Like I said previously (Day 3), I’m not a big fan of saisons. They tend to be more carbonated than I prefer so the flavor has to be extra good to make up for it. This one does a decent job of that. First of all, it’s well carbonated but not as bad as many. Second, it has a good base flavor with citrus and pepper. Finally, by aging the beer in gin barrels, they added a unique flavor that I haven’t had before in a beer (and it helps that I’m a fan of gin). Most of the time, I’ll still prefer a good IPA, porter, or stout over a saison, but this one is refreshing and delicious and close to perfect for the style.
I’m not really in the mood to be negative today. There was a bit of good news today. A judge in Seattle has completely stopped Trump’s Muslim ban nationwide. This is not necessarily permanent, but it’s a step in the right direction. CPB have stated that everything is operating now as it was before the order. This means that the 100,000+ visas that had been revoked are now reinstated. This executive order is keeping families apart. It’s keeping students away from their schools. It’s keeping teachers and doctors away from where they need to be. This is a good start, but this ban needs to be ended permanently.
