Lakewood Brewing’s Temptress and it’s many variants are probably the best stouts to come out of a DFW brewery. 903’s Sasquatch and variants are not far off though. I’ve previously tried the base Sasquatch and the barrel aged version, which were quite good. This may be the best yet. The first thing that struck me was the smell. Opening the growler was like opening a package of chocolate frosting. It tastes like a chocolate cake was dropped into their stout. There is a strong fudge flavor with some bitterness. That bitterness lingers on for a bit too long, but not so much to change my opinion much. It sounds like they are releasing a barrel aged version of this beer at some point, and I hope I’ll have the chance to try that one as well.
Nate Silver’s website Five Thirty Eight posted a chat yesterday where they looked at these first 3 weeks of the Trump presidency in an attempt to figure out which events are actually significant and which are just background noise. Two things happened today which almost certainly significant.
First, counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway almost certainly broke the law by conducting an interview in an official capacity and basically acted as an advertiser for Ivanka Trump’s clothing line. The Office of Congressional ethics has been asked to review this situation by House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz. This is the first indication that Mr. Chaffetz isn’t just going to turn a blind eye to the abuse of power by this administration.
Second, Trump’s Muslim ban suffered another loss when the 9th district court of appeals unanimously refused to reinstate it. Trump responded by respectfully accepting the ruling of the court.
SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!
