Beer Notes

I’m glad to have finally had a Cobra beer as part of my challenge.  For the last few years, Cobra has felt like MY brewery.  It was only about 10 minutes away from where my girlfriend used to live, and we’ve been there about a dozen times since they opened, first visiting them just weeks after they opened in January 2014.  I’ve had more than 30 different beers that they have released and I can say with certainty that they are among the best in Texas.

This beer is an interesting one from them.  As far as I know, they have only done one other fruit beer, a strawberry beer which has a very subtle strawberry flavor. There is nothing subtle about the raspberry in this one.  If you don’t like raspberries, this beer will not be for you.  But as someone who loves them, I think that this is fantastic. It’s a different direction than I would expect from Cobra (and maybe that is due to the Mox Nix collaboration… I don’t know anything about Mox Nix or what they contributed here).

I’ve just recently seen Cobra start to bottle their beer with their Donut Dunker porter, and I think that this beer would be a good candidate for bottling as well (after they bottle more of their amazing Kitchen Sink stout!).

Now I’m thinking of the Kitchen Sink stout… If I can get some of that for the challenge, it will be included for sure!

Other Thoughts

I’m keeping this short because I’m tired.  Trump declared war on all of journalism tonight. At this point, I’m not even angry at him.  I’m angry at all the Republicans in Congress who keep quiet while he makes a mockery of our country.  The press is NOT our enemy.  They are our fellow citizens.  I hope the rest of the world realizes that he does not speak for most Americans.
