I’ve visited 80+ breweries in the last 4 years, and Community was the first. I had never actually heard of them before when I was invited to visit, and I was impressed. The first beer I ever had by them, during that visit, was their Mosaic IPA, which is a solid IPA and still ends up in my fridge every once in a while. When I tried the Ascension Coffee Porter (non-vanilla variety) a few years back, I thought it was good but maybe just a little above average. The vanilla though, gives this beer an extra kick that makes it well above average and I’m loving it. I know this is a limited release, but hopefully not too limited because I’m looking forward to getting some more of these.
The first post Trump election was held today in Delaware. It was an important race as it was the tipping point seat for the state senate. In normal times, it would be expected to be a close race. In the 2014 midterms, the Democratic candidate won by 2%. It is pretty common for turnout to be low which generally works against the Democratic party. This past year, Hillary Clinton won the district by 11%. Now special elections tend to have the lowest turnout of all, but it was not the case today. The Democratic candidate got about 1,000 more votes than the Democrat got in the 2014 midterms and won by around 17% today.
It’s very easy to say that that this is a result of resistance against Trump, and it’s certainly possible. But Delaware is a strongly Democratic state, and it can be easy to read too much into this. It’s a good win, but the place to look at now is Georgia’s 6th congressional district. This is a suburban Atlanta district that was represented by Tom Price before he joined the Trump administration. Republicans have held the seat since 1979 and it is not an easy place for a Democrat to win. But after Mitt Romney won the district by 23 points in 2012, Trump only won it by 2% last year. If the resistance against him is real, this is where we could really see it. The election is scheduled for April 18th.
