Beer Notes

This seemed like the perfect beer to bring out for Mardi Gras.  Just a couple weeks after I had the Raspberry Temptress (which was great), here is the French Quarter variant. Chicory and coffee are the key add ins for this version of Temptress and I think it’s the weakest one.  That doesn’t make it a bad beer though, it is really quite good.  It reminds me of some of the recent barrel aged beers that I had, like the Double Barrel Big Bad Baptist minus the whiskey flavor.  It’s just missing something compared to the other Temptress beers.

Other Thoughts

I’m typing this up a bit early tonight so this is all before Trump’s speech to Congress, which I’m sure will provide plenty of material to talk about tomorrow.  There are a couple of things going on the last 24 hours or so, and the theme seems to be “passing the blame”.

First, Trump suggested that the protests against him and the leaks coming out of his administration are being organized by former president Obama.  To be fair, there is evidence that Obama has been busy organizing protesters since he left office:

Second, Trump is passing off blame for signing off on the Yemen mission that resulted in the death of a Navy SEAL and a young girl who was an American citizen.  He hinted that Obama is partially responsible as well, but obviously the current commander-in-chief shouldn’t have to take any responsibility for a botched mission that he ordered.

Finally, Trump suggested that the recent wave of hate crimes against the Jewish community across the country may actually be committed by his political opponents or by the Jewish communities themselves in order to reflect badly on Trump, because he is of course the victim here.

Poor Trump, it’s been a tough day.
