The general consensus for this stout tends to be “HOLY SHIT!”. It has the highest Untappd score of any beer that I’ve ever had. This is my 3rd Prairie for this challenge, and I like most of their beer, so I had high hopes. So, does it deliver? Yes! I was hooked from the first sip and it got even better as it warmed. It’s like they took one of their great barrel aged stouts and added a bit of apple flavor to it. Along with a bit of caramel sweetness and it’s just great. How can I get my hand on a whole case of these?
This is the halfway point of the challenge. Unfortunately Trump is still president, so I’m going to keep on going towards 100. I’ll take a little bit of a break from his bullshit and look back at how I have survived so far.
The beers that I have had so far have been great. According to Untappd, they have an average rating of 4.09. My scores averaged to 4.23 so maybe I’m a bit easier to please but either way they are great beers. I’ve had 5 beers that I’ve given a perfect score to, including today’s beer.
There were 43 different breweries represented from 14 states (plus Belgium and Russia). 20 of the beers have been from Texas breweries (15 in the DFW area) followed by 5 each from Colorado, California, and Illinois. These beers are strong. The average ABV has been 10.24%. A lot of days one of these beers is more than enough for the evening. It’s been a fun journey so far and there is a lot more great beer to come (hopefully!).
