This is the first quad that I’ve had for this challenge and it’s very good. I’ve had quite a few quads and they can have a wide variety of flavors because the style describes the strength (there are Dubbels and Tripels as well) more than the type of beer. This one is quite strong at 13% so the name fits. And at that strength, the booziness sticks out. But it’s also quite sweet with fruity flavors (plum skin comes to mind). The beer was aged in brandy barrels, and I can taste it a bit, but it wasn’t very noticeable to me until it had warmed quite a bit. Overall, a good beer, with the added benefit that I can say that I’m drinking Responsibly!
After taking a couple days off from talking much about Trump (and they were mostly slow news days), things have picked up in a big way:
I had said Friday was the worst day of Donald Trump’s presidency. I was wrong. It is today.

It’s true. He didn’t have a good day. He apparently woke up annoyed about the hearings today (I’ll get to that in a moment) and went on a Twitter rampage, complaining about the Trump-Russia story in a very un-presidential way. Then, the hearings happened. The topics for discussion were Trump’s claim that Obama had wiretapped him during the campaign, along with the Trump-Russia issue. First, FBI director Comey denied that the wiretapping occurred, and so basically called Trump a liar (which he is). Then, Comey confirmed that they are investigating Trump’s ties to Russia. Apparently they have been doing this for months now. It’s hard to believe that an investigation would go on this long if there was nothing there, although we did not get any information from Comey on this topic. Finally (and I mean, I’m skipping like 5 other things), his approval rating in the Gallup Daily tracking poll has dropped to an all time low at 37%. I’m not sure who those people are that still like him, but the fact remains that Trump is hugely unpopular and has been becoming more and more unpopular as he spends more time in office. Sad!
