Although they call it an IPA, this one kind of moves beyond that label. At 18%, it’s more like a IPA/Barleywine hybrid on crack. This one starts out very sweet, with flavors of toffee and caramel, which are followed up with something resinous, maybe pine or oak or some combination, which lingers for a while after each sip. There is some burn from the alcohol as well, but it doesn’t detract from the overall experience, which is smooth and exploding with flavor. It was so good that a small fly took notice as well (which I fortunately saw before drinking it in).
This is Michelle’s birthday, and her favorite type of beer is IPA, so I picked this one for today. It’s not really an IPA though, and she didn’t seem to enjoy it much. My bad!
I don’t really feel like getting much into the politics of the day today (was too busy to follow what was happening) but I’d suggest taking a look at What The Fuck Just Happened Today, which always has updates on what has gone down. At a quick glance, it looks like it was a busy day today!
