In general, when I’m reviewing beers, I don’t think about anything other than the quality of the beer. But the reality is that I’m not given these beers for free. Some of my favorite beers have been $1.50 for 12 ounces. So spending $22 for a bottle like this was a bit of a risk. When I bought it, I wasn’t really sure if sour ales were for me, but I thought that if I was going to like one, it would be a well reviewed beer from a brewery known for their sour ales. I’m aware that sour ales are more expensive to produce, but in the time since I purchased this beer I tried others that I liked just as much or more for a fraction of the price. This one is good. Almost great even. It’s strong and tart with a wonderful cherry flavor that really stands out. But in the end, this can’t compete with wonderful sour beers that I’ve had from Blue Owl, Collective Brewing and Real Ale here in Texas when price is taken into consideration.
Today was the day for the tax marches. It looks like they were a big success and there were over 100,000 people nationwide who marched. I didn’t make it out to the Dallas one, but I’m on board with their message, which was centered around the desire for Donald Trump to release his tax returns. He has previously claimed that nobody except the press cares about them, and I think this is a pretty clear indication that it’s not true. There’s no indication that he’s going to do that, ever, but you can never count out the possibility that they will leak out at some point. I hope that they do, and that’s what I’m drinking to tonight!
