Beer Notes

This one is considered one of the best Belgian Quads in the world and the fact that it’s actually from Belgium doesn’t hurt.  I was pretty excited to try it to see how it stacks up (I do enjoy quads) and I have to say that this one is worth trying.  I don’t know about everywhere else, but it seems pretty easy to find here in Texas.  This one has a good dark fruity flavor (plums and raisins) and it’s a little bit boozy.  The mouthfeel is wonderful though.  It’s so smooth, with a perfect level of carbonation and every sip was great.

Other Thoughts

The big news of the evening is the special election in Georgia to replace Tom Price’s seat in Congress after he became Secretary of Health and Human Services.  The seat is traditionally Republican but is trending Democratic and it looks like there is a real chance that Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff could win.  This election is a free for all primary, and if no candidate reaches 50%, there will be a runoff between the top two candidates.  At the time of this post, Ossoff is just over 50%, but it looks like he will end up in the high 40s, well ahead of the next highest candidate at 18%.  It looks like this won’t be decided until late into the night, but even if there is a runoff, the fact that he was so close to 50% here has to be encouraging to the Democrats.
