Roundup – Black Friday

Posted by

Today used to be the day that everyone went crazy for a discounted TV, but most of that action has moved to Thanksgiving now, so it’s a little more calm now.  One area where it is still a bit insane is on the beer front, where Goose Island does their yearly release of their Bourbon County Brand line of beer. Leave it to beer to keep a bit of the insanity on Black Friday.

2017 Year In Review

Yesterday I mentioned the end of Obama’s term, so today we will remember the first day of Trump’s, January 20th. Although there was already a lot of news about cooperation between Trump’s campaign and the Russians, the story of the day back then was the crowd size. Everyone wanted to see how his inauguration crowd compared to Obama’s, and it wasn’t a good start for Trump.

Beer of the Day

The Black Friday special, Bourbon County Brand Stout from Goose Island, is today’s beer.  Technically this beer is part of the Anheuser Busch InBev so it’s not “craft beer”, but it’s still one of the best beers in the world.  This stout (aged in bourbon barrels) has a wonderful taste of caramel and vanilla and it’s just about all I could want in a beer.  It’s perfectly balanced and delicious.

Final Thoughts

Black Friday has come and gone for another year, and for the first time in a while, I almost completely avoided it.  We grabbed a couple discount movies and I got some Goose Island beer, but it was mostly a normal weekend. They can move Black Friday to Thanksgiving if they want, but that day is for family so we will take a pass. Let’s make Black Friday great again (and also fuck Trump)
